This beautiful pitcher is in a design I have not seen before. It’s very well done and the pattern fits the shape ideally.

A large, 24-point hobstar adorns the sides of the pitcher. The hobstar is framed on either side by a pair of looping vesicase of notching filled with crosshatching. Above the deep hobstar is a flat hobstar sitting above triangular fields of fans and crosshatching. The base of the pitcher is unusual featuring either fields of cane filled with fans or tiny little hobnail. The handle of the piece is triple-notched and the base is finished with another deep, 24-point hobstar.

The pitcher is in great condition with just some tiny fleabites on the rim.

This piece was cut and engraved by J. Hoare. It’s ina rock crystal design shown in the front of their catalog reprint. The rim was made by Tiffany – a company with a strong ties to Hoare glass.

The inkwell features a ribbed exterior with flowers, stems and leaves copper wheel engraved and polished. The engraving is very deep – you can fit the tip of a finger in the depth of the flower. The base is cut with 24-point hobstar.

This piece is made of an enormous chunk of glass- over 2″ thick in some places and weighing a ton. The inkwell is 5″ wide and 3 1/2″ tall. It’s in exceptional condition – there is some scratching on the base and a little bit of roughness around the inner hobstar. The sterling has some barely noticeable creases, but functions and looks great.

This beautiful plate is in an unknown pattern – it’s similar to some Hoare and Bergen designs but I have not been able to identify it. The quality of the piece is very high.

An unusual form of cane, with one hob and one diamond shaped point weaves throughout the tray.  They criss-cross and meet and flat hobstars while framing deeper ones throughout the piece. In the center of the plate,  there are clear tusks converging and the edge of the piece has deeply cut hobstars.

The plate is in perfect condition and measures 13 1/4″ in diameter and 1 1/2″ tall. It has a nice, silky polish and a clear blank.

This is one of the nicest chain decanters I’ve ever seen. Done in Hawkes’ early Grecian design – the pattern extends across the entire base where most of these decanters have a simpler rayed star.

The Grecian design wraps around the body of this decanter. Russian bands extend up from the base and meet half a rayed star. Separating each of these bands is a clear, convex tusk cutting. The base is complete with a full hobtsar in a 6-point crosshatched formation. The neck of the decanter is fluted and notched and meets an ornate Gorham spring-loaded flip top. The chain is even decorated in a rope-like swirl!

The decanter is in perfect condition and free of residue. It measures 9 1/4″ tall and 5″ wide and is a perfectly clear blank.

This bowl is cut in one of the most desirable designs of the Brilliant Period – Meriden’s Theodora. Meriden had some dynamite patterns like Rose Diamond and Byzantine and this piece is of the same quality as those super designs.

First, feast your eyes on the center of this piece – a 44-point hobstar! Hobstars with this many points are rare enough but this one has a clear thumbprint on the hob to keep it parallel with the rest of the pattern. Petals of cane sprout forth from the center hobstar ring and run towards the edge. A deep miter runs between each of these and has parallel lines cut up either side of it. Then beautiful 42-point hobstars with clear thumbnail hobstar adorn the edge of the piece. The overall effect makes it look like many blooming flowers made of hobstars. It’s remarkable.

The bowl is in excellent condition and measures 9 1/4″ wide and 3 3/4″ tall. The blank is perfectly clear and highlights one of the most desirable and recognizable patterns of the period.

The Manitou pattern is one of Hoare’s best and rarest patterns. It is one of their old designs and as a result is on a wonderful blank and beautifully wood-wheel polished.

The carafe has deeply cut hobstars which are square off on all sides in an octagonal formation. There are rayed traingular fields surrounding it. Sitting above are clear tusks which converge at a fanned field with more deep hobstars sitting atop a section of hobnail.

The carafe is on a stunning, clear blank and is wood wheel polished. It is in perfect condition and measurers 8 3/4″ tall and 5 1/2″ wide.

This fantastic pitcher was done in Hawkes’ Aberdeen design. It is wood wheel polished and features long, clear tusks which are only in the finer, earlier rendition of this pattern.

A large, split vesica of strawberry-diamond cutting draps along the sides of the pitcher. Separating each of these is a long, clear tusk – one of the most difficult motifs to cut in the Brilliant Period. Sitting above this cutting is a deeply cut hobstar. Amazingly, on the front side they actually halved the hobstar to accommodate for the spout while the back side they shortened the vesica to accommodate for the handle. The handle is triple notched with fan cutting at the base. The bottom of the pitcher is covered with a rayed star.

This is a very fine quality piece and measures 11 1/2″ tall and 5″ wide. It’s in perfect condition on a exceptionally clear blank.

This is an enormous punch bowl cut by Hawkes in their Marquise design. The exact piece is shown in the ACGA catalog reprint. Hawkes reserved this shape for very special pieces – the Hawkes Panel punch bowl and this punch bowl are the only I’ve ever seen it used with. It’s hard to fathom the size, but it towers over most large punch bowls and I find the form to be not only elegant but having a great presence among anything you put it around.

The Marquise design features a chain of hobstars in diamond fields. Draping down from the base of each diamond is notchingand in between each band of notching is deep flute cutting. The edges of the piece have large fans running up to the teeth. The base has an amazing, extremely thick collar with another chain of deep hobstars laid across it.

The punch bowl is in excellent condition with just a few tiny fleabites and measures 17.5″ tall and 15″ wide. It’s signed with the oversized Hawkes signature and on the clearest of blanks.

What a stunning piece this is – it has everything going for it. Handles, pattern cut base, and a particularly unusual form. It’s signed Hoare on the base.

The body of the vase is cut heavily with a variety of motifs. There are large deep hobstars with a vesica of cane coming up between them topped with a flat star. Below each deep hobstar is crosshatching and notching with fans. The neck of the vase is stair-cut which leads up to a band of hobstars at the rim. The handles are triple notched while the base is cut in pattern – extremely unusual for vases.

The vase is in excellent condition with one pinpoint flake at the base and measures 12 1/4″ tall and 8 1/4″ handle-to-handle. It’s on a crystal clear blank and an excellent example of Hoare glass.

This is one of the most collectible piece in cut glass – a shell by Tuthill in their “Shell” design.

The shell pattern features bands of graduating hobstars with crosshatching between each. They are separated by notching on both sides that lead to a fine crosshatched point. The upper portion of the shell is made up of one large fan. An identical shell sold at Woody Auction in May 2016 for $1600.

The shell measures 7″ wide and 1″ tall and is on a perfectly clear blank.
