This is one of the most collectible piece in cut glass – a shell by Tuthill in their “Shell” design.
The shell pattern features bands of graduating hobstars with crosshatching between each. They are separated by notching on both sides that lead to a fine crosshatched point. The upper portion of the shell is made up of one large fan. An identical shell sold at Woody Auction in May 2016 for $1600.
The shell measures 7″ wide and 1″ tall and is on a perfectly clear blank.
