Exceptionally Unusual Hoare Inkwell with Tiffany Silver Top SOLD

This piece was cut and engraved by J. Hoare. It’s ina rock crystal design shown in the front of their catalog reprint. The rim was made by Tiffany – a company with a strong ties to Hoare glass.

The inkwell features a ribbed exterior with flowers, stems and leaves copper wheel engraved and polished. The engraving is very deep – you can fit the tip of a finger in the depth of the flower. The base is cut with 24-point hobstar.

This piece is made of an enormous chunk of glass- over 2″ thick in some places and weighing a ton. The inkwell is 5″ wide and 3 1/2″ tall. It’s in exceptional condition – there is some scratching on the base and a little bit of roughness around the inner hobstar. The sterling has some barely noticeable creases, but functions and looks great.
