Incredible Hoare Handled Vase – SOLD |
What a stunning piece this is – it has everything going for it. Handles, pattern cut base, and a particularly unusual form. It’s signed Hoare on the base.
The body of the vase is cut heavily with a variety of motifs. There are large deep hobstars with a vesica of cane coming up between them topped with a flat star. Below each deep hobstar is crosshatching and notching with fans. The neck of the vase is stair-cut which leads up to a band of hobstars at the rim. The handles are triple notched while the base is cut in pattern – extremely unusual for vases.
The vase is in excellent condition with one pinpoint flake at the base and measures 12 1/4″ tall and 8 1/4″ handle-to-handle. It’s on a crystal clear blank and an excellent example of Hoare glass.
