Offered is a lovely water set in a cut and engraved design by Sinclaire. All four tumblers are signed Sinclaire, but I cannot find one on the pitcher.

The blank of the pitcher was used exclusively by Hawkes and Sinclaire and reserved for some of their most popular designs. A chain of hobstars adorns the perimeter of the each piece seperated by deep miters. The rims appear to be engraved with sunflowers or daisies (I’m not an expert on flowers). The base of all piece have large scallops of glass cut vertically for a perfect contrast to the heavy cutting and engraving on the rest of the pieces. The handle of the pitcher is double notched and finished with a  rayed star.

The set is in excellent condition but the tumblers do have some heavy interior scratching. The pitcher measures 6″ tall and 6″ wide while the tumblers are 4″ tall and 2 1/2″ wide. The set is is a tremendous value at this price and makes a wonderful example of cutting and engraving.

This very large Humidor is cut by Dorflinger in their Marlboro pattern. It also has a great sterling collar marked Dorflinger – adding to both the value and rarity of the piece.

The Marlboro pattern consists of several 8-pointed stars with crosshatching between each point.Alternating panels of crosshatching and fan drift down the rest of the perimeter of the Humidor which finish out the lovely pattern. The entire piece is wood wheel polished and finished with a rayed star on the base.

The humidor is quite large and particularly heavy measuring 8 1/4″ tall, 6 wide at top and 8 pounds! It is in excellent condition without any issues.

Croesus is one of J. Hoare’s most desirable, early patterns. This roseglobe is one of the absolute best examples I’ve ever seen – mainly because of the doubling up of the clear tusk work. The entire piece is wood wheel polished lending a silky feel and wonderful radiance to the globe.

Typically most Croesus only features tusks on the lower bout of a piece, however this roseglobe features them on both the top and bottom (swirling in opposite but continued directions)! The circumference of this piece is lined with diamond shaped fields of cane. These are divided on all sides by fan cutting. Both the top and bottom feature a swirling, clear-tusk motif divided by notching. The bottom of the piece is outrageous! The tusks swirl around until they come to a point converging at the center. I don’t remember ever seeing this done before – most companies would usually take the easy way out and finish the piece with a hobstar or the more than common fan. The use of clear tusk work pushes this piece over the top.

The globe is large, measuring 7″ wide and 6 1/4″ tall. It’s in perfect condition with just a few tiny scratches at the base. The blank is far better than many early Hoare pieces which can tend to be gray in coloring.

I continue to think Pitkin & Brooks may be the most underrated cutter of the Brilliant Period – and this bowl is just a testament to the quality items that they were able to produce. The Duchess pattern is one of their best designs – seemingly all of their best seem to have this fan border made up of tiny Russian and crosshatching.

The Duchess design is thoughtfully laid out with the most meticulous and precise of cutting. The patter centers around a deeply cut hexagonal hobstar. This hobstar is surrounded on all sides by crosshatching which leads into notching. The notching leads into richly cut hobstars topped with an unusual crossed motif. Perhaps the main draw of this pattern are six looping vesicas. The exterior portion of the vesica is made up of looping bands of cane that meet at a flat hobstar. The interior of that vesica contains a clear tusk – one of the most difficult and desirable motifs of the period. Again, this piece has an unusual border that features a fan of two bands of tiny Russian cutting alternating with a central crosshatched portion.

The blank of this bowl is stunning – outshining almost any piece you put it next to. It’s also globe in shape – rolling over ever so slightly towards the top. It measures 9 1/4″ wide and 4 1/4″ tall. I firmly believe that if more collectors knew of this pattern and saw it in person, this would be a $2500 bowl.

I believe this is the best ice bucket or champagne cooler I’ve ever seen. It is magnum in size and weight with an unusual handle attachment. I believe that J. Hoare used this type of handle attachment most often and especially on ice buckets. It is absolutely stunning and a true rarity.

The pattern is arranged in four large loops. The borders of the loop are made up of 8-point hobstars converging at a large rayed fan. The loops house crosshatching atop a smaller hobstar. Each loop is bordered by a zig-zagged field of crosshatching. The center of the bowl features four diamond-shaped fields of hobnail. Large fans with three large, deep miters each finish out the border of the piece. The handles, which run parallel to the surface the bowl rests on are triple notched and perfectly annealed. The depth of cutting around the bases edge is incredibly deep – one of those pieces you can’t figure out how they didn’t cut through the whole thing.

Now please read the dimensions of this piece carefully – over 9″ wide (excluding handles), 11 1/4″ including handles, and a staggering 6″ high. It’s also on a very thick blank measuring 5/8″ thick and weighing. The bowl is in perfect condition save for one tiny insignificant bruise in the cutting. The blank is exceptionally clear, especially for a piece of this size. Pieces like this hardly ever come along – in fact, I’ve never seen one of this size. Do not miss the opportunity to own this rarity.

This carafe is cut in Dorflinger’s Montrose design. I believe this blank shape was exclusive to Dorflinger and they also cut a handled decanter in a similar shape. Attached is a photo of that decanter in Montrose in the same horizontal arrangement as this carafe. What’s particularly remarkable about this carafe is that Dorflinger left an open area in the cane cutting for a monogram.

A top and bottom row of punties fit the non-cinched portion of this carafe. The punties create stunning lens-like optics. In between each row of punties is a band of clear cane. The cane is very deeply and precisely cut. The neck is fluted and notched and the base is covered with a 24-point hobstar.

The entire piece is cut on a wonderfully clear Dorflinger blank and is radiantly wood-wheel polished. The carafe measures and is in perfect condition.

The blank on this tray in Libbey’s Delphos is second to none. It’s on the best water-white clear blank. This is absolutely necessary on a piece of Delphos because of the deep clear cutting. This same piece was for sale at Woody Auction in March 2013 for $4300. This piece is not only cheaper, but also in better condition (I attended the auction). It is signed in the center.

The Delphos pattern is simple in description but complex in aesthetic beauty. Deep, clear bands of cutting drape around the plate and divide richly cut, sharp hobnail. The rim has an extremely unusual wave to it with shorter waves at the points of the hobnail vesica.

The tray is in excellent condition with only one tiny nick in the hobnail and two tiny areas of roughness on the rim. It measures just over 12″ wide and 1 1/2″ tall. Again, this blank is likely higher quality than any other 12″ tray ever produced.

This bowl is cut in one of the most desirable designs of the Brilliant Period – Meriden’s Theodora. Meriden had some dynamite patterns like Rose Diamond and Byzantine and this piece is of the same quality as those super designs. Most bowls in this pattern are 9″ wide but this is over 10″ wide making it one of the largest pieces of Theodora known.

First, feast your eyes on the center of this piece – a 48-point hobstar! Hobstars with this many points are rare enough but this one has a clear thumbprint on the hob to keep it parallel with the rest of the pattern. Petals of cane sprout forth from the center hobstar ring and run towards the edge. A deep miter runs between each of these and has parallel lines cut up either side of it. Then beautiful 32-point hobstars with clear thumbnail hobstar adorn the edge of the piece. The overall effect makes it look like many blooming flowers made of hobstars. It’s remarkable.

The bowl is in excellent condition and measures 10 3/8″ wide and just under 4 1/2″ tall. The blank is perfectly clear and highlights one of the most desirable and recognizable patterns of the period.

I have had this blank before cut in Dorflinger’s No. 99 pattern among others. I’m guessing this is a blank by them but cut by another manufacturer. I also bought this from an estate with another piece of Dorflinger. The pitcher cinches in towards the center.

This piece has so much brilliant cutting it shimmers all over. The main motif are two clusters of hobstars. These clusters are divided by hobnail and a diamond of cane cutting. This main section of the pitcher is divided on each side by a chain of vertical, richly cut hobstars. These are framed by notching and crosshatching triangles. The handle of the pitcher is finished with a compressed, triple-notched handle. The base features a 32-point hobstar.

The pitcher is in very good condition. The blank is stunningly clear and the cutting extremely vibrant. It measures 8 7/8″ tall and 6″ wide.

This is one of those supreme pieces Quaker City was able to achieve – it’s on an extremely thick, clear blank. It is cut in Quaker City’s Roosevelt pattern, which was one of their most expensive and elaborate designs. At the 2013 ACGA convention, a punch bowl in the Roosevelt pattern with a CRACK sold for $8000!

The Roosevelt pattern lays out wonderfully on this vase. The main motif of the pattern is an elaborate pinwheel which features an interior cluster of hobstar. On this vase, the hobstars alternate – one clear button center with one filled in center. On other vases, I haven’t seen this variety and I have to assume this was the more labor intensive version of the two.  This pinwheel sits atop a richly cut, deep hobstar. Seperating each panel of pinwheel/hobstar is a pinched off vesica of fine crosshatching. The entire neck and mouth of the vase is finished with a modified feather cutting – a complete finishing touch of class. The base is covered with a rayed star.

The vase is in immaculate condition and on a stunning, extra-thick blank. It measures 9 3/4″ and a whopping 8″ wide! The unusual shape of this vase, combined with the rare and desirable Roosevelt pattern make it a wonderful example of Brilliant Cut Glass for your collection.

This is the sort of piece I take great pride in offering – a large plate in Hawkes’ extremely rare Imperial pattern. Imperial is a triple-miter trellis style pattern, but is better than its other similar patterns – the cutting is most often more condensed, brilliant and significantly deeper. This 12″ plate is signed proudly with the Hawkes trademark in the center. This pattern, on a 10″ bowl brought $12,500 a few years ago at Woody Auction in June 2011. That’s more than the asking price for this tray which is significantly more valuable and rarer.

There’s not much more that I can say here than the pictures can’t provide you with. Deeply cut triple miter trellis covers the entire surface of this pate. The hobstars protrude in large knobs as a result of all the glass the cutter removed with the triple-miters. The cutting is over 1/4″ deep in some places. The effect is both astounding and captivating. Because of all of the brilliant cutting, the piece radiates even when not well lit. This is one of the best cut glass plates ever made.

The plate is in excellent condition with only some light surface scratches and a couple of tiny, rough spots in the cutting. The blank is first rate and measures 12″ wide and 2″ tall. This is the only one of these plates I’ve ever seen in this size – this is the type of piece that will always appreciate over time.

I find the shape of this jug entirely handsome and fascinating. It is a large pitcher (or could conceivably be called a claret jug) in Hawkes Brazilian pattern. The exact piece is featured in the older Hawkes catalog reprint by the ACGA.

The lower bout of this jug features deeply cut 8-point clear-button hobstars. Crosshatching falls between all of the points. Fans sprout forth from in between each star and reach a diamond of mixed cutting – triangular clear triangles, diamond shaped fans and crosshatching. Fans finish out the upper portion of the pattern. Gorgeous honeycomb/St. Louis Diamond cutting extends up the entire upper half of the pitcher. The handle of the pitcher also features the same cutting for continuity and attractiveness. The base is finished with a deep, rayed star.

The pitcher is in very good condition with a few small nicks in the pattern. It is quite large measuring 12 1/2″ tall and over 6″ wide. The blank is gorgeous and wood-wheel polished to stunning perfection
