Crystal Clear Libbey Delphos 12″ Plate – SOLD

The blank on this tray in Libbey’s Delphos is second to none. It’s on the best water-white clear blank. This is absolutely necessary on a piece of Delphos because of the deep clear cutting. This same piece was for sale at Woody Auction in March 2013 for $4300. This piece is not only cheaper, but also in better condition (I attended the auction). It is signed in the center.

The Delphos pattern is simple in description but complex in aesthetic beauty. Deep, clear bands of cutting drape around the plate and divide richly cut, sharp hobnail. The rim has an extremely unusual wave to it with shorter waves at the points of the hobnail vesica.

The tray is in excellent condition with only one tiny nick in the hobnail and two tiny areas of roughness on the rim. It measures just over 12″ wide and 1 1/2″ tall. Again, this blank is likely higher quality than any other 12″ tray ever produced.
