Fantastic Pattern Cut Stopper Decanter – SOLD |
This is a very heavy decanter on what I believe is a Dorflinger blank. I have had the same blank in Dorflinger’s Mandarin with a pattern-cut stopper as well. The cutting is not typical of Dorflinger and more likely the work of another company.
The blank is very thick and heavy which leads to tons of deep relief around the hobstars that adorn the perimeter of the decanter. Fans, spurring in either direction, divide each hobstar and a band of cane runs around the top of the pattern. Working towards the back of the decanter, there is notched prism and crosshatching framing the handle. The handle is fluted and notched. The stopper is a work of art – gorgeous, clear glass with a cane band and fluting and notching. The base of the decanter is covered with a deep hobstar.
The decanter is in perfect condition and on a stunning, clear blank. Great decanters like this, with stoppers this nice are a true rarity in ABP glass. Whoever made this, really went the extra mile.
