Excellent Tazza in Yucatan by J. Hoare SOLD |
This tazza was cut in J. Hoare’s Yucatan design. I think the shape of this piece is one of the more exotic blanks for a vase/compote/tazza – with a good bit of both elegance and heft.
The main motif of this design is clusters of hobstars which Hoare is very well-documented for having. These clusters expand through 4 fields on the perimeter of the piece and are separated with four fields containing hobnail and crosshatching. The entire neck of the tazza is covered with step cutting, another one of Hoare’s main motifs. The base of the piece is covered in a 24-point hobstar.
This piece is in perfect condition and measures 9 1/4″ wide and 7″ tall.
