Unusually Shaped Unger Brothers Sherwood Ice Cream Tray – SOLD |
This piece could either by a nice sized ice cream tray or a very large fruit bowl. It comes up a bit more than most ice cream trays, but is the general shape of one. It was cut by Unger Brothers in their well-done Sherwood pattern.
The first thing that stands out about this pattern is the hexad cutting. Hexad is usually a sign of a high quality pattern and this piece is no exception. The hexad is housed in vesicas with crosshatching and flat, brilliant hobstars. Deeper hobstars sit between each of these vesicas. The center of the tray is covered with a large hobstar.
The tray is in excellent condition with one very small chip to the side of a tooth. It is very large measuring 14 1/2″ long, 9″ wide and 2 3/4″ tall. This is a tremendous value at this price.
