Incredible Libbey Unknown Patter Bowl – SOLD |
This bowl has undeniable characteristics of Libbey’s styling. The triple miter cane, hobstar formation and placement, and central hobstar are indicators. It’s unsigned but on one of the most stunning blanks I’ve ever seen. The way the clear blank frames the central star is astounding.
The center star of this bowl is the exact one used in Libbey’s Ellsmere, some Imperial, and some Waverly. It is framed by the most water-white, crystal-clear glass. Six five-sided hobstars border the center and are surrounded on the exterior by cane and hobnail. The hobnail is framed by triple miter cane which runs into more double miter cane at the rim of the bowl. Large, deeper hobstars sit perched between the bands of triple miter cane.
The bowl is in perfect condition with no flaws. It measures 9 1/4″ wide and 3 3/4″ tall. One of the most beautiful unknowns I’ve seen.
