Unusual and Heavy Hawkes Blowout Bowl |
Hawkes are well known for their use of thise type of shape – commonly referred to as a blowout bowl. They resemble snowflakes and have always been aesthetically pleasing and coveted among collectors. This is an older piece and is wood-wheel polished.
A beautiful framed hobstar lies in the center of the bowl, surrounded on all sides by a clear scallop cutting. Pockets of the bowl are filled with alternating Russian and Persian designs. The contrast between that and the clear segue-ways between sections of the bowl is stunning.
This piece is quite heavy and clear, measuring 10 1/2″ wide and 3″ tall. It’s in excellent condition with no visible damage. This is a great old piece by one of the premier makers of the Brilliant Period.
