Unusual J. Hoare Acme Ice Bucket SOLD |
This is a particularly unusual ice bucket cut in J. Hoare’s Acme design. As far as I know, Hoare was the only company that applied handles in this manner – horizontally and paralell to the ground.
The Acme pattern displays excellently on this piece Two stacked hobstars are bordered by crosshatching in triangular fields on all sides. These hobstars are divided by deep notching and a band of crosshatching sandwiched between the notching. All of these bands come together in the center of the bucket and form an unusual 6- point star formation. The handles are triple notched and perfectly annealed.
Most ice buckets have more traditional style handles (often tabs) and forms. This ice bucket clearly sticks out from the pack and measures 6″ wide (8 1/2″ including handles) and 4 1/2″ tall. It’s in exceptional condition with only a minor fleabite or two to the rim.
