Unique and Elegant Libbey Pie Crust Rim Vase – No.67 SOLD |
This is an extremely appealing vase by Libbey. It combines some great motifs and an unusual ruffled/pie-crust style rim. The piece is signed with the Libbey-sabre trademark on the base. This is shown in a Libbey catalog as design No. 67.
The upper portion of the design features the Libbey style checking. This motif alternates with fluting and notching at the ruffles in the rim. Flat hobstars make up the next portion of the pattern and are perched atop alternating panels of crosshatching and a crossed panel. Beneath that is a large punty, flat hobstar and notching. This section is divided on either side by a long band of triple miter cane. The base has a coined finished and an unusual rayed star with varying width of miters.
The vase is in excellent condition and measures 10″ tall and 5 1/2″ wide. To me, this is one of the most appealing and attractive vase shapes I’ve seen. The unusual design only adds to the attractiveness. Offered at what I consider to be a bargain price.
