This wonderful stem is cut in J. Hoare’s Crystal design. This is an extremely rare piece – I’ve only ever seen a handful and the pattern is captivating. It’s an old piece and completely wood-wheel polished.
The pattern is set up in a very similar way to Croesus, but instead of can cutting and fans, it has incredible, detailed Persian cutting for the border. Under that are swirling tusks which provide a gorgeous dripping effect from the busy Persian cutting – it almost looks like melting ice. The stem of the wine has a less common knob shape with a full extension air trap. The base has a rayed star.
This wine glass measures just under 5″ tall and 2 5/8″ wide. It’s in excellent condition with no chips, flakes or cracks. This is certainly a rare stem and a gorgeous one at that.
