Stunning Hawkes Brunswick Pitcher – SOLD |
This pitcher, cut in Hawkes’ Brusnwick pattern, is extremely unusual. I have never seen this shape in Hawkes Brunswick pattern – it’s often on the far more common squat/pinched jug. The pattern looks so much better on this pitcher. It’s signed on the base with the Hawkes logo.
Richly cut hobstars adorn the upper bout of the pitcher. The lower portion of the piece has a more unusual, simpler star. Joining these two types of stars are paired bands on notching. Deep scallops fall between each set of notched bands – showing off the stunning clear glass against the brilliant cutting. The rest of the pitcher is fluted and notched while the handle is triple notched with a fan at the bottom. The base is also fanned.
The pitcher is great condition with only a tiny nick to the edge of the rim – barely there. It measures a large 9 1/4″ tall and 6″ wide. The blank is beautiful and surely a rare find for this design. The smaller, much more common versions of this pitcher sell for $400+. Comparatively, this is an excellent deal at this price.
