Wonderful Hawkes? Pair Champagne Stems SOLD |
I’m almost certain I have seen one of these stems in color, signed Hawkes before, but I certainly do not know the pattern. It is very well done. I have also seldom seen this type of stem – with the knob and fluted stem filled with entire solid glass. This leads to a very hefty stem.
The pattern is quite nice combiningĀ elementsĀ of Kensington and Portland. Eight-pointed, clear button hobstars with clear-button centers adorn the perimeter of each steam. each is separated by a modified kohinoor-type cutting which is situated atop some crosshatched fields. The edge of the pattern is finished with fans. The bases of the champagnes are each finished with 16-spoke split point hobstar.
The stems are in excellent condition and measure 4 1/2″ tall and 3 5/8″ wide. The blanks are very clear with little to no wear.
