Hawkes; Brunswick pattern is one of their most underrated patterns. It combines brilliant cutting with exceptionally clear glass for a wonderful contrast. This plate is signed in the center with the Hawkes trefoil.
The center of this piece features a gorgeous hobstar formation including one large center star surrounded by twelve small, deeply cut hobstars. These hobstars are connected to large, rim hobstars by two bands of parallel line cutting. In between each dual band of cutting, there is a deeply scalloped portion of the glass which creates a great optical effect in addition to showing off the clarity of the glass.
The plate is in perfect condition and measures 10 1/8″ wide and 1 3/8″ tall. The blank is of the highest quality – what many people refer to as a Steuben blank – and the same kind used on the Queens pattern.
