Extremely Unusual Libbey Colonna Decanter – SOLD |
This is a particularly unusual decanter – it features two air bubbles in the neck which are blown right on top of each other. Each of the bulges is faceted entirely and gives it a look like two pieces of glass were applied together! The body of the decanter is bell-shaped and quite elegant. This piece is signed Libbey and is cut in their Colonna pattern.
The Colonna pattern is made up of what appear to be alternating 5-pointed stars. Each alternating section is made up of either a deeply cut hobstar or a flat hobstar. The formation is made up of checked cutting and full fans. The neck is fluted and notched up until the two facetedĀ air bubbles. The base is finished with a rayed star.
The decanter is in great condition – the stopper appears to have had a chip polished out at one point in time, but is a great fit to the decanter. There is also a bruise to one of the facets on the stopper. The piece measures 12 5/8″ tall and 4 1/2″ wide.
