This jug or Demijohn was cut head-to-toe in Dorflinger’s Hollow Diamond pattern. The blank is water-white highliting the clear honeycomb cutting. The main appeal of the Hollow Diamond design is the opitical, thousand-eye effect it provides to onlookers.
This type of cutting is also known as St. Louis diamond is tightly cut near-punties linked on all sides to another concave formation. Light plays very well off of these cuts and one can see many portions of the pattern through each surface. Dorflinger went the distance on this piece and even cut the stopper and handle in pattern. The base and stopper are finished with rayed stars.
The whiskey is in excellent condition and measures 10 1/2″ tall and 5″ wide. This pattern has a massive appeal to both collectors and non-collectors – appreciating the unusual and incredible optical effect Hollow Diamond displays.
