This plate is cut in Libbey’s seldom seen Stratford design. Stratford is a very early design – the entire piece is wood wheel polished and on an extremely clear blank.
The Stratford pattern is a cluster design. The central 6 point star is made up of fine crosshatching. Deep miters run from the very center all the way to the edge of the piece providing framework for deeply cut hobstars. Each of the 6 hobstars are cut with deep hobs and 16 points.
The plate is on an extremely heavy, thick and clear blank. It measures a full 7″ in diameter and 7/8″ tall. It’s in perfect condition with no damage. This is an underrated design and is one of the higher quality patterns you can pick up for bargain prices.
