This is an extremley elegant pair of compotes in a clear channel pattern. No expense or effort was spared on these – they have full tear drop stems and scalloped-hobstar bases. Sinclaire, Hoare and Hawkes all cut patterns like this, but I’m unsure of the maker of this piece.
Small, flat hobstars adorn the exterior edge of the compote. Below those stars are two parallel sets of notching with a deep miter on either side. Dividing the notching is a larger, deep scallop. The base has an elegant teardrop and is notched with two varying types of cutting.. The base of each compote features a 24-point hobstar with a scalloped base – an added touch of craftsmanship.
The compotes are in excellent condition – one has two tiny nips on the teeth. The blanks are both excellent and measure 7 5/8″ tall and 6 3/4″ tall. This is a bargain price for a pair this nice and they could flesh out a cut glass display excellently – flanking a larger piece on either side.
