This pitcher, cut in Hawkes’ Brusnwick pattern, is extremely unusual. I have never seen this shape in Hawkes Brunswick pattern – it’s often on the far more common squat/pinched jug. The pattern looks so much better on this pitcher. It’s signed on the base with the Hawkes logo.

Richly cut hobstars adorn the upper bout of the pitcher. The lower portion of the piece has a more unusual, simpler star. Joining these two types of stars are paired bands on notching. Deep scallops fall between each set of notched bands – showing off the stunning clear glass against the brilliant cutting. The rest of the pitcher is fluted and notched while the handle is triple notched with a fan at the bottom. The base is also fanned.

The pitcher is great condition with only a tiny nick to the edge of the rim – barely there. It measures a large 9 1/4″ tall and 6″ wide. The blank is beautiful and surely a rare find for this design. The smaller, much more common versions of this pitcher sell for $400+. Comparatively, this is an excellent deal at this price.

This jar is done in Sinclaire’s Engraved Gooseberries design. Gooseberries engraved during the Brilliant Period are rare and at to that this is a two part jar and you have a certainly unusual piece. The piece is signed with the Sinclaire logo on the base.

Beautiful gooseberries are engraved down the entire jar. The come in clusters of four and the detail in stunning. The lid, on its own, is a complete work of art. It’s fluted and then engraved entirely in the design. The finial has an unsual rayed star with border and the base has the exact same design.

This rare piece measures just over 7 1/2″ tall and 6″ wide. It’s in excellent condition with two tiny flakes at the rim. This is a stunning example of the engraving Sinclaire was capable of.

This piece is cut in Tuthill’s ever-popular Vintage design. It is signed Tuthill on the underside.

The main draw to this pattern is the obvious extremely realistic grape cutting. A vine, complete with tendrils, hangs some of the most delicious looking deep intaglio grapes. The border of the pattern is finished in panels of three brilliant hobstars and the corners have vertical notching. The edge is finished with the traditional parallel line/coined edge that Tuthill often used.

This dish is in excellent condition with one minor nick at the edge. The blank is gorgeous and the glass comes off as very vibrant. It measures just over 6 3/4″ wide and 1 1/2″ tall.

This pair of decanters was cut in Kelly & Steinman’s Roman pattern. In addition to being on great, bell shaped blanks, they feature very rare steeple cut stoppers!

The Roman pattern features thick bands of cane crisscrossing one another throughout the entire pattern. Small hobstars and diamond-shaped fans connect all of these bands. In between the cane bands are large deep hobstars and flatter ones. The neck of the decanters are fluted and notched just like the stoppers. There is a large scallop cut out at the center of the neck. The bases of the decanters feature a large 24-point hobstar.

Both pieces are in excellent condition and measure approximately . To find one of these decanters is unusual but a matched pair are a true rarity.

The Savona pattern by Libbey may easily be the best combination of geometric cutting and realistic engraving. The variety of motifs is mind-numbing and the quality of engraving is superb. I have had a piece identical to this in my collection for many years and would never sell this piece if it wasn’t for that. The exact piece is pictured in the Libbey composite catalog reprint reproduced by the ACGA and in Rarities. This pattern was undoubtedly designed by William C. Anderson. It is signed Libbey in the center.

The center of the bowl (where is rests) is covered with clear-button centered hobstars. They’re arranged in a manner that some how comes to three points in the center. Look carefully at the corners of the bottom – Libbey even threw in a tiny little hobstar.  A very deep, clear channel is cut around that portion of the pattern and meets three “pineapple” type of cutting. Shooting from the pineapple are fans cut nearly the same as Hawkes’ Panel – chains of hobstar separated by triple miter and divided by deep, clear channels. Three medalions of engraving are spread evenly around the bowl. Each one features I different fruit – I believe they are pears, grapes or plumbs, and a muskmelon. Flared feathering surrounds each section of engraving.

The blank quality of this piece is as good as it gets and dazzles. The bowl is in good condition with just a minor flake at the rim to the side of a tooth and a chip to the inside of a miter on the base. This large piece  measures 10 3/4″ wall and 3 3/4″ tall. The shape is quite unusual in that it only rests on the center portion and then flares inward throughout the bowl and upward at the rim.

If it wasn’t already obvious – I think extremely highly of this piece. I truly believe that this should be about as expensive as any bowl out there – it’s just as nice and as rare.

This bowl has undeniable characteristics of Libbey’s styling. The triple miter cane, hobstar formation and placement, and central hobstar are indicators. It’s unsigned but on one of the most stunning blanks I’ve ever seen. The way the clear blank frames the central star is astounding.

The center star of this bowl is the exact one used in Libbey’s Ellsmere, some Imperial, and some Waverly. It is framed by the most water-white, crystal-clear glass. Six five-sided hobstars border the center and are surrounded on the exterior by cane and hobnail. The hobnail is framed by triple miter cane which runs into more double miter cane at the rim of the bowl. Large, deeper hobstars sit perched between the bands of triple miter cane.

The bowl is in perfect condition with no flaws. It measures 9 1/4″ wide and 3 3/4″ tall. One of  the most beautiful unknowns I’ve seen.

This piece could either by a nice sized ice cream tray or a very large fruit bowl. It comes up a bit more than most ice cream trays, but is the general shape of one. It was cut by Unger Brothers in their well-done Sherwood pattern.

The first thing that stands out about this pattern is the hexad cutting. Hexad is usually a sign of a high quality pattern and this piece is no exception. The hexad is housed in vesicas with crosshatching and flat, brilliant hobstars. Deeper hobstars sit between each of these vesicas. The center of the tray is covered with a large hobstar.

The tray is in excellent condition with one very small chip to the side of a tooth. It is very large measuring 14 1/2″ long, 9″ wide and 2 3/4″ tall. This is a tremendous value at this price.

There’s one all-encompassing word that describes this decanter, it is WOW! This is a ships decanter in Hawkes stunning Kensington pattern with a pattern cut stopper. Both pieces are signed Hawkes.

Rich hobstar, after rich hobstar sprout from the base of the decanter. Following from a large, central hobstar are spurs which encapsulate one large, one, clear-button hobstar and some triple miter cutting (like Hawkes’ Panel pattern). Nestled between each spur is yet another rich hobstar with awesome kohinoor cutting shooting off in either direction. The stopper is somehow cut in the entire pattern with a hobstar on the top! The base of the decanter is also finished with a hobstar and the handle is triple notched.

The decanter is in great condition with an extremely light and tiny stain on the interior bottom. It measures 6 1/2″ tall and 7 1/2″ wide. The blank is stunning. The stopper alone on this piece is a work of art, but combined with the decanter it’s a masterpiece!

This bowl is cut in the rare and extremely well-done Wedgemere pattern by Libbey. Wedgemere was one of Libbey’s early patterns so the entire piece is wood-wheel polished and deeply cut. The blank, like many of the earlier Libbey, is exceptional.

The Wedgemere pattern hinges on the center-most point of this bowl. Deep miters radiate from that point in all directions. Some of the miters frame a deeply cut hobstar perched atop a smaller, deep hobstar. Crosshatching separated both stars and they are framed on either side by notching. There are four bands of a criss-crossed crosshatching. On either side of these bars is surrounded on both sides by deep tusk cutting (supposedly one of the most difficult motifs of the period).

This is one of those pieces you must hold to appreciate – extremely deep cutting polished to mirror-like perfection. The bowl measures 9 1/4″ wide and 4″ tall. It’s in excellent condition save for two tiny clambshells to the interior of the rim that hardly take away any depth at all. This is an excellent opportunity to own one of the most popular patterns of the Brilliant Period for a very fair price – most piece in this pattern exceed the $1000 threshold.

This jug or Demijohn was cut head-to-toe in Dorflinger’s Hollow Diamond pattern. The blank is water-white highliting the clear honeycomb cutting. The main appeal of the Hollow Diamond design is the opitical, thousand-eye effect it provides to onlookers.

This type of cutting is also known as St. Louis diamond is tightly cut near-punties linked on all sides to another concave formation. Light plays very well off of these cuts and one can see many portions of the pattern through each surface. Dorflinger went the distance on this piece and even cut the stopper and handle in pattern. The base and stopper are finished with rayed stars.

The whiskey is in excellent condition and measures 10 1/2″ tall and 5″ wide. This pattern has a massive appeal to both collectors and non-collectors – appreciating the unusual and incredible optical effect Hollow Diamond displays.

This beautiful jug is cut in Dorflinger’s No. 50 pattern. It is extremely difficult to find Brilliant Period pieces with these sterling flip-tops. This piece is marked Sterling with some hallmarks in the last photo. The piece is quite old and wood-wheel polished.

The No. 50 design consists of vertical bars of crosshatching meeting at a point. At every point possible, fans shoot from the crosshatched bars. In between each section of crosshatching are octagonal shaped, deeply-cut hobstars. The base of the piece is covered with a 20-point hobstar base while the handle is triple notched with straight lines. The silver is ornate with floral decorations and even a heavily decorated thumb rest.

The jug is in perfect condition and measures just over 11″ high and 4 1/2″ wide. The silver is also in excellent condition. Again, clarets with silver flip tops are rare in cut glass so don’t miss out on this one. Please forgive the lack of polishing in the photos-the piece will arrive to you fully polished and “sterling.”
