This extremely unusual basket, which rolls over, was cut by J. Hoare in their Marquise pattern. The quality of this pattern varies from piece to piece, but this example is of the highest quality – with a shine and clarity unlike most.

The center of the basket features an unusual hobstar formation – surrounded on all sides by diamond-shaped fields of crosshatching. The crosshatching fields to a split-feather type of cutting which is then framed with an unusual crosscut band that you can find on some of Hoare’s more unusual designs. Layered above that are flat hobstars and hobnailed fields. The rim of the basket features deeper hobstars with crosshatching sitting atop a band of cane cutting. The amount of cutting and motifs on the bowl is staggering! The handle is perfectly annealed and triple notched.

The basket is in stunning, perfect condition. It measures 10″ long and 8″ wide.

These paperweights are true rarities in the world of cut glass smalls. The one on the left was made by Meriden and Wilcox silver – it is shown in the Meriden catalog. The one on the right is Gorham silver but unknown on the glass maker.

The Meriden paperweight is quite heavy and features notching around the perimeter with a 20-point hobstar on the base. The Gorham one is cut with a 22-point hobsstar – the silver is quite elaborate and monogramed.

The Meriden paperweight measures 3 1/2″ wide and 2 1/4″ tall. It is in good condition with a few fleabites in the notching that are difficult to find or see. The Gorham one is 3″ wide and 1 1/2″ tall. It has a small clambshell nick on the base which can be see in the photo. They are $175 each.

This is an exceptionally rare form – one that I don’t think I’ve seen before. I think this piece might be by the craftsmen at J. Hoare as it has elements from some of their other designs and is conceivable they would cut something on this shape.

Bands of notching drape themselves down the sides of this piece, starting from the top teeth. Triangular fields of cane separate the notching and connect with 8-pointed stars with crosshatching between the points. The handles are miraculously attached and triple notched and the 3 feet are cut with rays down to the bottom. The base of the bucket is cut with an unusual quintuple notched triangle crosscut.

The ice bucket is in perfect condition and measures 8″ tall and 7″ wide. It’s the rarest and most unusual form of an ice bucket I’ve ever seen.

This ice bucket is cut in an unknown design but on a well known Libbey blank.

Deep hobstars are arranged in diamond shaped fields on the center of this design. They are framed on either side by crosshatching, deep, clear miters, fan and diamond-shaped hobnail fields. The handles are triple notched while the base is scalloped and finished with a 20-point hobstar.

The condition of this ice bucket is perfect – often times the handles have fractures in them, but this is a pristine, clean example. It measures 10″ handle to handle and 5″ tall.

This is one of the rarest shapes of Alhambra that exists – this ice tub is really a stunning example of one of the most desirable patterns of the Brilliant Period. An Alhambra collector assures me he  has has only seen a handful over the years and values them very highly.

The rim of this piece features the pattern’s signature castle rim followed by a chain of cut and unpolished Greek key. The rest of the Alhambra pattern is composed of chains of hobstars and bands of cane. Even the tab handles have hte castle rim and clear button hobstars cut into the handles.

The ice tub is in perfect condition and measures 6 1/2″ wide and 4″ tall. This is one of the most iconic patterns of the period and this is an extremely unusual find.

This carafe has been part of my personal collection for 15 years. It’s now time to give it a new home. I always appreciate how much work was put into the piece – especially with the neck cutting. It’s signed on the base with the Hawkes trefoil.

The Lorraine pattern consists of 2 brilliantly cut hobstars each descending in size towards the top. In between each diamond shaped hobstar are 3 large bands of notched prism, fanned out for a sweeping effect. The upper hobstars are cut with incredible precision and surrounded with crosshatching. The base of the decanter is very thick, heavy, and finished with a rayed star. The neck of the piece is extremely impressive – it’s alternating panels of flute and tiny hollow diamond must have taken a very skilled cutter to achieve.

Again, the carafe is very heavy and measures 8 1/2″ tall and 5 1/2″ wide. It’s in perfect condition, free of any defects. I’m offering it at the exact price I paid 15 years ago.

I adore this shape that the master craftsmen and Meridn made. The humidor pinches in ever-so-slightly in the center between the Greek Key border and rest of the pattern. The sterling silver lid is marked Wilcox and is monogrammed on the handle.

The Greek Key motif links itself around the top portion of this tobacco holder – making this easily identifiable design completely recognizable. The rest pof the pattern continues down the humidor with chains of hobstar and bands of cane. The base is finished with a rayed star base. Please not how deep the cutting is on the base photo – the miters easily going into the more than half the thickness of the blank.

The humidor is in perfect condition and measures 7 1/4″ and 3 3/4″ wide. The gorgeous combination of silver and cut glass along with one of the most desirable patterns of the period makes this piece highly sought after.

This cute cologne was cut in Hawkes early Brazilian pattern. The entire piece is wood-wheel polished. Additionally, the stopper was crafted by Gorham.

The sides of the cologne feature deeply cut 8-point clear-button hobstars. Crosshatching falls between all of the points. Fans sprout forth from in between each star and reach a diamond topping off the pattern. The base is finished with a deep, rayed star.

The cologne is in great condition and measures . Piece adorned with silver have become highly desirable and will continue to grow in popularity. This is a great cabinet piece and a beautiful combination of silver’s lustre and the glass’s brilliance.

I absolutely adore this piece in Libbey’s very rare and extremely well done Rosella pattern. This was Libbey’s most expensive pattern according to their catalog – more than Aztec, Marcella and the various other Libbey rarities. The piece is signed Libbey on the edge.

The Rosella pattern is a beautiful display of William C. Anderson’s finest design traits. A chain of clear button hobstars runs along hte edge  of the piece surrounded by feathering and a checked motif. The center four-point formation is made up for 4 clear button hobstars, crosshatching, and a larger, central hobstar. The rope handle is a display of genius glassmaking with twisted molten glass and the ends are crosshatched.

The basket measures 9″ long and 7 3/4″ wide. There are no condition issues and both handles are attached perfectly. The glass and cutting is of the highest, brilliant quality.

This piece was most likely cut by Hawkes. It is unsigned but extremely similar to the Brunswick and Marquise patterns and on a blank I’ve seen cut by Hawkes as well.

The design on this cup features a chain of hobstars around the top portion with fans between each. Trickling down from those are notching and zipper cutting. In between a set of four vertical cuts, are a deep, clear scallop. The base tapers in and features fluted and notched cutting. The handles, which are perfectly annealed are double notched. Please not the dramatic flair of the top – it’s really a stunning shape. The base is finished in a rayed star.

The cup is in perfect conditions with no flaws that I can find. The blank is wonderfully clear and brilliant and measures 8″ wide (handle to handle) and 6 3/4″ tall.

Take one good look at this ice bucket and you’ll realize it’s not your standard piece. The amount of work that Libbey put into this piece is staggering. The handles alone have more work on them than most any tab-handled bucket. This is an early Libbey pattern and on the most-gorgeous of blanks, wood-wheel polished to perfection.

The center of this piece has a large 16-point deeply cut hobstar. At every other point, there is a framed field of crosshatching. In between each of these fields lies a deeply cut 16-point hobstar. Fans seperate each one of these stars. Additional 16-point hobstars run up to the edge of each tab-handle with another farmed field of crosshatching.

The blank on this piece is world-class – both extremely heavy and clear. It measures 7″ wide and 5″ tall. It’s in excellent condition with a few minor nicks around the rim.
