These decanters speak for themselves – cut in Clark’s Mercedes design with pattern-cut stoppers. They’re both signed Clark with the script logo.

Your eye is immediately drawn to the stoppers on this piece – fully cut in the pattern and a hobstar at the top. Large hobstars adorn the body of the decanter. In between each hobstar is a formation featuring full fan cutting, crosshatching, and a clear-button hobstar.. Each of the large hobstars is dopped with a smaller, precisely cut hobstars. Zipper cutting leads up from the main portion of the pattern leading to a lapidary knob neck.

Simply put, these decanters couldn’t have more going for them – the shape and stoppers, along with top notch cutting are unbeatable. They’re in perfect condition and measure 15″ tall and 6″ wide.

This gorgeous piece was made by J. Hoare – it is pictures in the Gorham archives with a different stopper, but with the glass labeled as Hoare.

The pattern is really nice. There are alternating fields of two main motifs. One motif is clear button cane. The other field features two portions of crosshatching on either side of a flat hobstar. This motif is framed on either side by notching. All of the cutting is separted by gorgeous clear vesicas/tusks. This motif was one of the most difficult to cut in the brilliant period and one that Hoare seemed to master early on. The neck and spout of thep iece are fluted and notched as well as the handle. The base is finished with a perfect rayed star. The silver stopper is monogramed with what I believe is “SMM.” It’s marked Sterling 639.

The decanter is in excellent condition and measures 6 1/2″ wide and 7 7/8″ tall. There is a very light, minor stain to the base of the decanter.

This is a beautiful duckbill style decanter similar to the other one I currently have listed on this site. The pattern is similar to some of Straus’s work, but is actually made by the Shotton Cut Glass Company. The exact piece is shown in the Cut Glass Ad Books – Volume 4 on page SHO – 4.

Large, diamond-shaped hobstars are completely encompassed by notched prism. The prism is surround by additional straight line cutting and divided by a very unusual advanced form of cane. The rim has a particularly unusual decoration with crosshatching. The handle is double notched with a little cross in between each thumbprint. The base is covered in a rayed star.

If I had to guess, I think the stopper is a replacement, but a darned good one. The fit is good, it just sits a little too low in my opinion. The decanter measures 11″ tall and 5 3/4″ wide and is in great condition.
