This is a gorgeous pitcher cut in Straus’s Columbus design. This pattern is hard to find and particularly well done.
The pitcher is draped on all sides with oblong fields. Two of the fields have triple miter cane at 45 degree angles rather than 90 degree ones. This leads to more cuts per square inch. The front of the pitcher has a long, oblong hobstar – something you only see in great patterns like Libbey’s Grand Prize. The rim is finished in fans while the base is done in a draping notch and fan motif. The base of the pitcher features a 24-point hobstar and the handle features a compressed triple notch that Straus often employed.
This piece is in perfect condition and measures 9 1/2″ tall and 5″ wide.
