This tankard was cut in Libbey’s rare and highly desirabe Rajah pattern. It is signed on the handle with the Libbey-sabre trademark. Interestingly, I once owned this same blank in Grand Prize and it was monogrammed above the handle. This piece is also monogrammed with what I believe is the letter “G.” This is just another sign that someone thought this was a very special piece at the time it was ordered.
This large piece is cut to the 9′s. There is a unique 6-point star formation at either end of the pitcher. They both meet at extended points filled with cane. The points of the formation are filled with 5-point stars filled with crosshatching. These formations give the appearance of shooting stars and are feathered around on all sides. Crossed feathered cutting extends down the front of the pitcher and frames an 18-point, split-point hobstar. Even the handle features feathering to keep in sync with the rest of the pitcher! It’s stunning attention to detail that makes this pitcher so much more impressive than most pieces. The base of the pitcher features a large 24-point hobstar.
This tankard is very large – measuring 13″ tall and 6″ wide. It is on a stunning, clear blank and in perfect condition. I seldom see pitcher this size that are this nice.
