The Best Ice Bucket or Champagne Cooler – Attributed to J. Hoare – SOLD

I believe this is the best ice bucket or champagne cooler I’ve ever seen. It is magnum in size and weight with an unusual handle attachment. I believe that J. Hoare used this type of handle attachment most often and especially on ice buckets. It is absolutely stunning and a true rarity.

The pattern is arranged in four large loops. The borders of the loop are made up of 8-point hobstars converging at a large rayed fan. The loops house crosshatching atop a smaller hobstar. Each loop is bordered by a zig-zagged field of crosshatching. The center of the bowl features four diamond-shaped fields of hobnail. Large fans with three large, deep miters each finish out the border of the piece. The handles, which run parallel to the surface the bowl rests on are triple notched and perfectly annealed. The depth of cutting around the bases edge is incredibly deep – one of those pieces you can’t figure out how they didn’t cut through the whole thing.

Now please read the dimensions of this piece carefully – over 9″ wide (excluding handles), 11 1/4″ including handles, and a staggering 6″ high. It’s also on a very thick blank measuring 5/8″ thick and weighing. The bowl is in perfect condition save for one tiny insignificant bruise in the cutting. The blank is exceptionally clear, especially for a piece of this size. Pieces like this hardly ever come along – in fact, I’ve never seen one of this size. Do not miss the opportunity to own this rarity.
