Classy Dorflinger Cut Glass Claret Jug with Sterling Top – SOLD

This beautiful jug is cut in Dorflinger’s No. 50 pattern. It is extremely difficult to find Brilliant Period pieces with these sterling flip-tops. This piece is marked Sterling with some hallmarks in the last photo. The piece is quite old and wood-wheel polished.

The No. 50 design consists of vertical bars of crosshatching meeting at a point. At every point possible, fans shoot from the crosshatched bars. In between each section of crosshatching are octagonal shaped, deeply-cut hobstars. The base of the piece is covered with a 20-point hobstar base while the handle is triple notched with straight lines. The silver is ornate with floral decorations and even a heavily decorated thumb rest.

The jug is in perfect condition and measures just over 11″ high and 4 1/2″ wide. The silver is also in excellent condition. Again, clarets with silver flip tops are rare in cut glass so don’t miss out on this one. Please forgive the lack of polishing in the photos-the piece will arrive to you fully polished and “sterling.”
