Incredible Blackmer Nordica Compote – SOLD

The amount of work that went into this compote is astounding. It features a fully cut base, a lapidary knobbed neck, and an incredible pattern. I believe the pattern is Blackmer’s Nordica – one of their top-of-the-line patterns.

The main portion of the pattern is made up of six large vesicas. These vesicas are made up of an unusual curved hobnail border which is connected on either side by a flat hobstar. The hobnail surrounds a deeply cut oval hobstar. In between each vesica is a smaller hobstar surrounded by fans and a field of crosshatching. The neck contains a beautiful lapidary knob which leads into an incredible fully cut base. The base features a central hobstar that forms the center of a 6-point star formation with cane points. The entire edge is finished with crosshatching! You do not find bases like this on many pieces at all!

The compote is in very good condition but it does have some minor fleabites along the rim. It measures 6 1/2″ wide and 5″ tall This is easily the best compote of this size and one I’ve only seen a handful of times.
